Remote Workforce Security - the Long Game

Forcepoint's Homayun Yaqub on Turning Risk Acceptance into Mitigation
Remote Workforce Security - the Long Game

"Risk acceptance" were the operative words as organizations quickly deployed remote workforces in response to the global crisis. But now, as this deployment becomes a permanent option, enterprises need to take a longer view toward identity, cloud and the attack surface. Forcepoint's Homayun Yaqub offers tips.

"We're still trying to figure this out," says Yaqub, Senior Director of Strategy at Forcepoint. "Everyone's using these terms 'the new normal,' the 'new reality' ... what was an unprecedented set of circumstances led to organizations that weren't typically built for a remote workforce now having to enable it."

But risk acceptance is giving way to mitigation, he says. "As we're normalizing [the remote workforce] a bit, there is a renewed emphasis on reducing that level of exposure."

In an interview on securing the remote workforce, Yaqub discusses:

  • The risk acceptance and shortcuts enterprises allowed under pressure
  • Strategic new approaches to cloud, identity, and targeted attacks
  • How Forcepoint has adapted and is helping customers secure the new hybrid workforce

Yaqub is the Senior Director of Strategy at Forcepoint. In this role, he partners with executives across various verticals to architect and deliver Forcepoint solutions to address human-centric business issues and better enable security/risk managers to safeguard their data and people assets. Yaqub brings more than 20 years of experience in the U.S. military, government, and private sector to Forcepoint. Prior to joining Forcepoint, Yaqub was an Executive Director on JP Morgan Chase's Global Security Team leading the firm's Global Safeguard Program.
